Álvaro Van Zeller's line of disruptive wines at Van Zeller Wine Collection SA has just arrived in reds, following the successful launch of the Kaputt "orange wine," which was followed by the highly interesting Kaputt Palhete. This time, it's a blend composed primarily of Touriga Francesa (77%) complemented by Rufete, Tinta Amarela, and Touriga Nacional. Besides the characteristic Kaputt bottle—a peculiar shape with a sort of indented support base—the disruptive side of this red is inscribed in the name itself: Kaputt 40 Months, as it underwent a (very long... and very risky) aging of about three and a half years in new French oak barrels.
